Snohomish family involved in head-on Kitsap County crash that injures five

""
Submitted by Ray Marcham on Sunday, February 7th, 05:00pm

A Snohomish family was involved in a head-on crash in Kitsap County on Sunday morning that injured all four members of the family and forced a woman in a second car to miscarry.

The crash happened on Highway 303 east of Silverdale.  The Washington State Patrol says that a 1994 Chevrolet Suburban driven by 47-year-old Dennis Johnson of Snohomish was traveling northbound on the highway near Ridgetop Boulevard when it drifted across the median and into the southbound lanes.  It then collided head-on with a 2001 Hyandai Accent driven by a 22-year-old Bremerton woman.

Both Johnson and the woman in the other car were badly injured in the crash and were taken to Tacoma General Hospital.  Johnson suffered face and chest injuries, while the woman, who was four months pregnant, had leg, chest and abdominal injuries.  Her injuries were bad enough that she miscarried and lost her unborn child.

Johnson's wife and two kids were all taken to Harrison Medical Center in Silverdale, treated for their injuries and released.

The WSP says it is investigating whether a medical situation with Johnson was a main factor in the crash.

Wow, what a "Frip You" to the lady in the second car, courtesy of Madame Fate...

Seriously, miscarriages suck, and I hope she'll be okay after all this is over.

We saw this accident on the way to church this morning just seconds after it happened. Horrible accident! All I could think about was all invovled and how this could happen to any of us at anytime. This will be something none of them will ever forget. Pray for all of them and the life lost. Thank you to all the police and medics on site immediately afterwards.

She may be able to heal physically, but she won't emotionally. You never get over having a miscarriage, no matter what the cause.

This is completely tragic!  My thoughts are with the young woman who suffered so much loss and the man who caused the loss.

My condolences to the woman that lost her baby. I had 3 early miscarriages and lost a baby girl at 5 months and it is something you never get over.

I have been following this story, and I am saddened that every news article states that the accident involved only five people.  I want to state publicly that this horrible accident truly had SIX people. I want this young woman to know that I am so sorry and sad that such a tragic accident happened to cause the death of her unborn child.  I have been praying for her since I learned of the accident. Also, the family in the other vehicle involved in the accident is still facing trauma.  At this moment, the man's wife is faced with telling him that this horrible accident caused the death of the young woman's unborn child.  The man is still in the hospital and his injuries are severe enough that he must stay in the hospital longer. Please, everyone, understand this was a tragic accident and pray for all those involved.  Thank you.
